What is the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County?: The Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County (CFAAC) is an organization which focuses on growing philanthropy to improve the community of Anne Arundel County through each person, family, and business. CFAAC is a tax exempt, 501(c)(3), publicly supported philanthropic organization with the long term goal of building permanent funds that provide support to local nonprofit organizations through grants and special projects. CFAAC distributes nearly $2.3 million in grants each year to a variety of nonprofit organizations.
With support from local donors, CFAAC has created a permanent endowment whose earnings will be used to reinvest in the community year after year. As the endowment grows, so will its ability to provide support for community projects that need CFAAC's attention.
CFAAC is committed to increasing access to high quality capacity building training for nonprofit professionals to ensure more effective and efficient nonprofits in the county.
Through CFAAC's Community Needs Assessment: Poverty Amidst Plenty CFAAC is helping to create awareness about the issues in Anne Arundel County that impact the economy and quality of life. It monitors all areas of community need—including human services, education, the environment, healthcare, the arts and economic development.
In 2017, CFAAC made $2,250,000 in grants and scholarships, $800,000 more than 2016. CFAAC's total assets reached $14,750,000! These high numbers are due to the generous donors who support CFAAC and the local community.
GuideStar Anne Arundel is now live!: The Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County has announced its new partnership with GuideStar, the world’s largest source of information on nonprofit organizations, to bring donors a nonprofit directory focused solely on the nonprofit landscape in Anne Arundel County. GuideStar gathers and disseminates information about every single IRS-registered nonprofit organization. They provide as much information as they can about each nonprofit's mission, legitimacy, impact, reputation, finances, programs, transparency, governance, and so much more. The nonprofit directory, hosted on cfaac.org, is now live! See the CFAAC website for training sessions being offered to Donors and Nonprofits on March 21 – one for nonprofits and one for donors - by Adrian Bordone, Vice President of Strategic Partnerships, GuideStar.
